Originally created around a fascination of the overlap between storytelling and the lengthy incantations necessary to craft many notable enchantments, the College has grown to encompass many instances where lingering magic blends into material culture. While the literary elements of the division are frequently stressed in early survey coursework, more advanced classes frequently deal with the creation and analysis of enchanted objects, as well as the various ways in which applying permanence to other schools of magic can change their fundamental nature.

Beyond occasional prank wars with the College of Abjuration, publishing extensive print projects through The Archive’s magical presses. Generally the school newspaper—the Xyrneiros Gazette—is run by an Enchantment Mage, as is the Xyrneiros Polishing Rag—the campus satirical newspaper.
