CANDLEA OBSCURA – INTERNAL DOSSIER

OPERATIVE FILE: F. ARCHERON

Codename: “Magpie”

Designation: Slink-Criminal (Active Field)

Assigned Circle: [Circle of Whistles and Whispers]

Status: Active

Clearance Level: Provisional II – Limited Autonomy

Last Observed Bleed Exposure: 3rd Degree, Marked Scar

Compiled by: Investigative Clerk M. Wexley, Observational Liaison Unit

Filed: 26 CR

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION[edit | edit source]

Feyre Archeron presents as a woman in her mid- to late-twenties. Impeccable grooming and fashion sensibilities indicative of red-lamp districts and higher-end grift circles. Hair consistently curled and styled in the Marlowe Cut; favors stark lip color and layered jewelry with likely symbolic or sentimental value (see cross-reference: blue pendant). Wears gloves at all times. Facial expression: Unreadable. Posture: Controlled. Smoking habit: Chronic.

Aesthetic reads as “affluent femme fatale,” but reports confirm upbringing within deteriorating Eaves district manor, suggesting a performance layer intended to disorient or mislead.

KNOWN BLEED SCARS[edit | edit source]

  • Manifestation: Smoke, ash, and occasionally sparks expelled involuntarily from mouth and nose during emotional spikes (anger, panic, etc.)
  • Classification: Volatile, passive-visual. Does not currently compromise containment procedures, but could if agitated.
  • Behavioral Impact: Subject displays aversion to discussing the scar. No attempts at healing or suppression have been made—likely indicative of shame or self-punishment.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE[edit | edit source]

"We never trained her to hold back. Someone else did. Someone she still thinks is watching."

Compiled by: OLU Clerk M. Wexley, Interview Sampling & Pattern Review

Review Date: [REDACTED]

Assessment Level: Inconclusive – Further Observation Required

General Disposition:

Operative maintains a demeanor of consistent detachment, with controlled speech, dry wit, and a guarded emotional register. While superficially affable under pressure, her charm appears calculated—more a tool than a trait. She deflects inquiry with sarcasm, avoids sustained eye contact when conversations turn personal, and employs self-deprecation as both armor and bait.

She performs well in missions requiring deception, infiltration, and social maneuvering. Her moral compass, while present, is selective—aligned with her personal code rather than Candela doctrine. Noted willingness to break protocol when dealing with vulnerable civilians, particularly women and children. Under these circumstances, disobedience has occurred, but never maliciously.

Cognitive Notes:

Extremely intelligent. Quick on her feet. Exceptional memory recall for details, especially regarding locked containers, escape routes, and verbal tics of suspects. Maintains a strong internal logic system; however, it rarely aligns with official expectations. Repeated resistance to psychological debriefing procedures. Shows signs of chronic exhaustion masked by high-functioning dissociation.

May suffer from compulsive behaviors (see “relic retention incidents,” pg. 4). Noted reluctance to part with retrieved objects, even those deemed unremarkable or inert. Possible connection to Catalyst condition, currently unconfirmed.

Behavioral Markers:

  • Avoidant attachment patterns. Withdraws emotionally when shown concern. Distrusts or brushes off kindness.
  • Hyper-independence. Refuses assistance unless in critical condition. Often conceals wounds until after missions.
  • Trauma conditioning. Strong physical reactions to hierarchical authority figures (especially older males). Possible historical abuse, unreported.
  • Moral fluidity. Does not seek to "do good" by default but demonstrates clear lines she will not cross—these appear deeply personal and tied to formative experiences.

Emotional Regulation:

Operative Caelwyn exhibits controlled affect in the field—calm, strategic, and often unshaken by standard horrors. However, field logs and eyewitness reports note sudden emotional spikes under duress, occasionally accompanied by manifestation of her Bleed scar (smoke, sparks). These moments are brief, infrequent, and usually followed by extended silence or withdrawal.

It is this Office's belief that these incidents are not a sign of instability, but rather pressure valves, releasing long-suppressed emotion to avoid total collapse. Still, risk of Bleed-scar escalation remains.

Summary Statement:

Feyre Archeron is a woman constructed from survival instincts, shaped by something much older and crueler than this organization. She is not motivated by accolades or approval, but by necessity and something far more difficult to name. She is broken in ways we cannot fix—but she is also unreasonably, maddeningly functional.

Whether she stands with us out of belief, or simply because we’re the only ones who haven’t asked her to kneel, remains unclear.

CONCERNING BEHAVIOR – INTERNAL NOTE[edit | edit source]

Agent Archeron consistently turns over relics and recovered objects with unusual reverence and reluctance. She has never failed a handover but is often the last to submit. Minor incidents of sneaking into post-retrieval storage areas reported—unclear if theft was intended or compulsion-based.

Anecdotal reports from her Circle suggest she “knows things before she should,” particularly about object histories or associated deaths. Possibility of latent resonant empathy? (See Subfile: Incidental Mediumship)

Her living situation has been flagged: she resides alone in a deteriorating estate known for its previous history with a former agent—a known site of unresolved Bleed energy and uncontained relic concentration. Attempts to inspect or investigate the house further have been denied or redirected at administrative levels above this office’s pay grade.

Editor’s Note: We believe her Catalyst resides within that house. Possibly sentient. Likely familial.

RELATIONAL OBSERVATIONS[edit | edit source]

  • Jackson Cunningham– Subject refers to Investigator Cunningham exclusively by the nickname “Ducky,” origin unclear but contextually derisive. Displays a pattern of covert supervision during his early missions, despite no formal assignment linkage. Frequently critiques Cunningham’s naivete and social tactics, yet intervenes to redirect or deflect danger on his behalf. Behavioral analysts note mild exasperation masking a reluctant fondness. Subject appears to underestimate him consistently—possibly on purpose.
  • Gertrude Clyde – Subject maintains consistent contact with Investigator Clyde, often seeking proximity post-assignment without formal cause. Displays protective behaviors masked by sarcasm or emotional distance. Subject appears to defer to Gertrude’s judgment in spiritual matters, suggesting trust uncommon in her interpersonal pattern. Unconfirmed but probable emotional attachment; subject visibly tenses when Gertrude is threatened or dismissed. Relationship is stabilizing but fragile—potential anchor or future vulnerability.
  • Persephone "Percy" Montgomery - Subject has encountered Investigator Montgomery on multiple occasions, often during assignment overlap or competitive pursuit of the same objective. Displays clear signs of irritation toward Montgomery’s flamboyant conduct but has never escalated to open conflict. Internal correspondence suggests a rivalry colored more by exasperation than animosity. Subject consistently downplays Montgomery’s skills while adapting her own tactics in response. Observers note a grudging respect developing beneath Feyre’s dismissive commentary.

FINAL ANALYSIS[edit | edit source]

Feyre Archeron is a high-risk, high-value operative.

She does not trust Candela Obscura—but she does respect its mission.

She will not ask for help—but she clearly needs it.

Whether she remains useful, or becomes a danger, will depend entirely on who reaches her first: us, or whatever haunts her home.

Recommendation:

Increase Observation Protocol. Deny field suspension unless agent initiates. Assign tether contact within Circle. Establish therapeutic entry under the guise of mission debrief.

BACKGROUND & HISTORY[edit | edit source]

Data Compiled from Societal Records, Observer Interviews, and Institutional Logs

Corroboration Level: Partial

Review Pending – Cross-reference Request to Newfaire Registry Archives Unfulfilled

Feyre Archeron was born into one of the minor elite bloodlines of Newfaire's Eaves district. The Archeron estate, while not as publicly prominent as others, was known for its opulence and rigid family structure—traits now understood to mask decades of internal dysfunction. Though official records describe the Archeron family as socially active and philanthropic during Feyre’s early childhood, privately gathered observations suggest the household was characterized by emotional neglect and tightly concealed abuse.

Her father, a business attaché with holdings in foreign antiquities and Newfairen restoration projects, was largely absent—frequently traveling abroad with Feyre’s mother. The subject’s mother appears to have been the primary caregiver during these years, providing rare but meaningful pockets of reprieve for her daughters, including routine visits to Dolly’s in the Varnish (a social venue of moderate repute at the time). These visits ceased upon the return of the family patriarch—Feyre’s grandfather—to the ancestral home.

The death of Mrs. Archeron, attributed to illness of “nervous and wasting nature” at the time, occurred shortly after the subject’s tenth birthday. Sources suggest the decline may have coincided with her prolonged exposure to the West Wing of the estate, a location noted in current Candela files for housing high-risk bleed-infused objects and relics. No formal connection was made at the time.

The funeral was held privately. Within weeks, the surviving household resumed normal operations. Public mourning was discouraged. Focus shifted toward advantageous matrimonial arrangements for the daughters—most notably, sending the eldest, Nesta, to finishing school overseas. Her departure marked a turning point in subject’s recorded behavioral history.

Noted Timeline of Events (Summarized):

  • Age 10–14: Subject remains in Archeron household. Regularly summoned to the West Wing by the patriarch. Behavioral shaping evident—training in social etiquette, legacy preservation, and artifact cataloguing begins. Subject referred to in family correspondence as “heir-provisional.” Corporal punishment confirmed. Physical scarring noted on dorsal side of hands.
  • Elaine Archeron, noted as “noncompliant,” is removed from the home during this period and sent to finishing school. Fate considered “marital asset reassignment” by father in private documentation.
  • Age 14: Death of patriarch. Cause listed as age-related complications. Subject’s father assumes full control of household and continuation of routines and expectations. Habits do not shift significantly.
  • Age 18: Subject completes private education under in-house tutors. Reportedly assumes partial oversight of Archeron operations within Newfaire. Specific ledgers and trade interests unknown, though flagged items in Candela’s Relic Watch Registry may correspond.
  • Current Status: Now sole resident and custodian of Archeron Manor and its adjoining office holdings. Relics, heirlooms, and historical items stored within the estate are not available for inspection under current permissions. Subject has not voluntarily disclosed inventory or access protocols.

Assessment Commentary:

The Archeron legacy appears to rest entirely on Feyre’s shoulders, whether by inheritance or compulsion. Her public persona remains polished and in line with expectations of a young businesswoman of standing; however, private conduct and Candela reports suggest a far more volatile foundation.

The West Wing of the estate—sealed but regularly visited—has been cross-referenced as a potential Thinning site, though no entry has been permitted by the subject. Feyre’s behavioral history strongly implies long-term exposure and grooming to serve a family legacy that prioritizes hoarding, collection, and ideological preservation over individual well-being.

It is unclear how much of the subject’s current Candela affiliation is a genuine pursuit of purpose, and how much is a redirection of her inherited compulsion to retrieve and retain objects of power.

The phrase “Ut Manet, Crescit” (“As it remains, it grows”) was discovered carved in multiple locations within the manor. Alterations of this phrase (“Ut Manet, Contagium” / “As it remains, it spreads” and “Ut Manet, Putrescit” / “As it remains, it rots”) appear as graffiti in hidden or private spaces.

NOTE:

Additional investigation into the relics stored within Archeron Manor is recommended—but must be approached with caution. Subject’s connection to the location appears both psychological and metaphysical in nature. Current protocols advise against forced entry or catalytic interference.

LINGUISTIC PROFICIENCIES – OPERATIVE F. ARCHERON[edit | edit source]

Filed by: Language Aptitude Assessor, Circle Integration Division

Updated: 26 CR

Primary Fluency:

  • Noman – Native fluency. Full command in reading, writing, and all dialectical variants. Advanced skill in code-switching depending on social class and region (Eaves, Westend, Red Lamp).

Secondary Proficiencies:

  • Oldfairen – Fully literate. Formal, ceremonial, and academic usage. Frequently employed in historical documents, civic treaties, and occult treatises dated prior to the Unification Period.

Assessment: Likely learned as part of household grooming. Subject reads with ease and rarely requires translation.

  • Vaelonic – Literate (read/write) to an advanced degree. Used extensively in ecclesiastical rites and coded relic catalogues.

Assessment: Useful in decoding encoded scrolls, Stele manuscripts, and other archival materials.

  • La Croix – Conversational fluency in speech; literate with moderate accuracy. Pronunciation serviceable, but subject admits to limited exposure outside of reading materials and “social posturing.”

Assessment: Likely acquired for diplomatic or travel-based etiquette purposes. Accent drifts under pressure. Functionally useful for written documents, less so in sustained oral negotiation.

Field Assessment Summary:

Subject possesses above-average linguistic range, including archaic and prestige registers often found in occult documentation, noble family codices, and pre-Breach relic annotations. Though not formally trained in cryptography, her exposure to layered dialects and symbolic languages makes her a valuable asset for interpreting historically coded texts or bleed-infected writing systems.

To whoever’s eyes are kind enough to keep reading after the reports have been logged:

I’ve seen that girl come back from jobs with her coat torn at the shoulder and her lip split, walking like her boots are full of lead—but not once has she asked for a damned thing. Not balm. Not bandages. Not comfort.

I don’t know what kind of house raises a child to believe pain is part of the inheritance, but I know the shape of it when I see it.

Feyre walks like someone trained not to flinch when the whip cracks. And she only ever breathes easy when no one’s looking.

Her kind doesn’t come through Candela often—not because they aren’t needed, but because they don’t last.

She’s clever, yes. Fast. Resourceful. Gods help the Circle that underestimates her. But that girl is haunted, and not just by what crawls out of the dark.

There’s a wound on her that bleeds inward.

The others joke about the smoke—say she’s all flare and no fire. But I’ve seen it: the way her hands shake after a mission. The way she avoids looking at anything with a polished surface. Like she’s scared of what might look back.

That’s not ego.

That’s conditioning.

I can’t say what’s buried in that manor of hers, or what voice still whispers to her when she’s too tired to fight it. I don’t want to know. But someone should.

And if no one’s brave enough to dig through the dirt she grew from, then the least we can do is not bury her further.

Let her keep the gloves. Let her keep the smoke.

Just don’t let her burn alone.
