For boons from other gods or powers, see Boons

Dragons are creatures of great power, and have occasionally been known to bestow their inherent mystical energies onto other creatures via Draconic Boons (sometimes also called Dragonmarks).

About[edit | edit source]

Draconic boons often manifest on the inheritor in the form of a tattoo or other physical form, often referred to as a Dragonmark. Though the two terms are often interchanged, not all draconic boons leave dragonmarks.

Known Boons[edit | edit source]

Boon of the Inspiring Leader[edit | edit source]

Upon slaying The Green Stag, the heroes Vadath, Stan, Delphi, Ferris, and Miles Ison were granted the powers of Inspiring Leaders, pulled from the Green Stag's own impeccable leadership skills.

Boon of the Galadiir (Corundum Egg)[edit | edit source]

Upon making allies with Bleucorundum, a number of creatures have been recipient to a powerful boon that renders them invisible to specific targets. In the case of Durian, Grandmush, Violet, Trina, Arlin, Amber, and Zevendell, they were rendered invisible to Dragons (much like a Warforged's natural abilities) while later on, other heroes were rendered invisible to the cultists of Fallhorn City for an infiltration. In general this boon functioned by setting a specific class or type of target, and then rendering the receivers of the boon invisible to those marks.

Boon of the Garden[edit | edit source]

Upon slaying the Black Dragon Thymor'ala, the slayers that were present absorbed some of her spellcasting energies, allowing them to then take on small feats of magical casting themselves, despite several of them otherwise being martial Barbarians.

Boon of the Filth[edit | edit source]

Given by some other Black Dragons, the Boon of Filth allows the beneficiary to cast the "Contagion" spell as an action three times. Once it has been cast for the third time, the boon vanishes.

Boon of Foresight[edit | edit source]

Upon slaying Bazzniagalvinica, the heroes known as Airavata, Asger, Rakim, Orifyire, Clank, and Nockdus all gained the ability to briefly see into the future, allowing them to strike with precision. (Mechanically it was advantage on all rolls for 1 round)

Boon of the Whispers[edit | edit source]

Upon slaying Tranquil the Terrible, the heroes known as Dancer of the Boreal Valley, Drang,Clank, and Thuchor earned the Fey Touched powers of the Jabberwock, giving them the power to teleport once per day, and cast Dissonent Whispers on creatures, driving them loony.

Boon of the Ruby Court Harbingers[edit | edit source]

This boon laid dormant inside an unactivated Topaz Astrolabe, which had come from the Ruby Court in the heavens above. When its latent activation happened inside a shrine in the Northern Snowy Mountains, it bestowed power to a group of normal heroes, granting them a draconic heritage and a formal title as "Harbinger". The heritages were as follows:

Power wide, besides the new dragonblood they now posessed, the creatures each gained a breath weapon and elemental resistance (much like a Dragonborn naturally would, without making them all dragonborns, just Arlin.)

Boon of the Elemental Water[edit | edit source]

Given by a nameless White dragon killed in the Northern Snowy Mountains:

You've been exposed to the primordial magic of the Elemental Plane of Water, granting you the following benefits:

  • Elemental Magic. You learn the thaumaturgy cantrip, using Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma as the spellcasting ability (choose when you select this feat).
  • Wave Surge. You can use a bonus action to create a forceful surge of water directed at a creature within 15 feet of you that you can see. The target must make a Strength saving throw; the DC for this save is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + the spellcasting ability modifier chosen for this feat, and a creature can choose to fail this saving throw. On a failure, the target is pushed up to 10 feet away from you or pulled up to 10 feet toward you (your choice). The water vanishes immediately after the creature succeeds or fails. You can create this effect a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. (edited)

Boon of the Telepath[edit | edit source]

Given by the Emerald dragon Smargarg upon saving an Emerald dragon egg and delivering it to him:

  • Grants telepathy with a range of 60 feet.
  • Cast Detect thoughts requiring no spell slots or components 1/day.

Boon of the Great Telepath[edit | edit source]

Given by the greatwyrm Feredemius upon being forgiven and not being killed.

  • Grants telepathy to all minds within 6 miles.
  • Cast Detect thoughts at will.

Boon of the Shifting Flesh[edit | edit source]

  • Grants the Actor Feat
  • Can cast Alter Self twice per day.

Upon slaying the orange dragon Xevriss, the heroes Amelie Luxaeterna, Juno of Galik, Finnegan (Finny) Warbler, Black Jack, Thordon Akieye, Radion The Forged, and Heli Moltenshield all gained a dragonmark.

  • Grants the Tough Feat
  • Can cast Good Pumpkin (Goodberry) twice before losing this ability.

Boon of the Fey Dragon[edit | edit source]

Upon slaying the fey dragon Faerenia, the heroes p'Ash'r'Ohn, Wiggler, Otto von Gerwig, Radion The Forged, Mirth, and Finnegan (Finny) Warbler all gained a dragonmark.

  • Grants the Fey Ancestry Feat

  • Ability Score Increase. Increase your Strength, Constitution, or Charisma score by 1.
  • As a bonus action, you can manifest your frightful presence. Each creature of your choice that is within 120 feet of you and aware of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma or Strength modifier. A creature that fails becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once you use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
  • As an action, you can transform into a Young White Dragon as per the Polymorph spell. The effects of this spell last for one hour, until you fall to zero hit points, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. You can use this ability once and then never again.
