Myxlixinal was a rogue Mind Flayer who was stranded in Amusa after his ship crashed. Myxlixinal was an NPC and Villain in the D&D 5e Community Campaign, "Within the Wicked Wilds."
Personality[edit | edit source]
Myxlixinal was an intelligent and scheming Mind Flayer, hoping to find a way to his crashed ship in order to use it to return home and conquer new realms. He looked down on other creatures as unintelligent, but was not against working with humanoids if it helped him reach his goals. He would present himself as someone who could be trusted and heeded, but in truth he would not hesitate to throw you away once you were no longer of any use to him.

Myxlixinal was a researcher aboard an experimental Mind Flayer ship, and helped to develop the aberrant intelligence of The Overmind. When the Overmind turned on its Mind Flayer masters, Myxlixinal was able to teleport to safety as the ship crashed in the Amusa Amusan wilds. After many years of recovery, Myxlixinal began to research ways to override the Overmind's control of the crashed ship. He would establish many secret hideouts across western Amusa, but primarily operated out of Wyvern's Roost, near where the ship crashed.
Myxlixinal eventually crafted a human brain that when plugged into the ship could give him backdoor access. But that was until it was stolen by members of The Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company. After this happened, Myxlixinal worried that the company might go after the ship and ruin his scheme and so he returned to the crash sight to block the only entrance with a magical barrier. But while he was there, he discovered that a Yuan-Ti cult called the Writhing Dark had begun to worship Aloysiu Tempest, an adventurer who had been trapped in the ship. The cult attacked Myxlixinal who was forced to flee for his own safety.
Myxlixinal then made a deal with an old jungle hag named Old Ingrid who bred Kuo-Toa servants. Old Ingrid gave Myxlixinal her Kuo-Toa in return for Myxlixinal sharing his planar secrets with her. Myxlixinal then used his new Kuo-Toa servants to try and fight back against the Writhing Dark. In this effort, Myxlixinal even teamed up with members of the Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company to destroy to destroy one of the cults forts, and then the cults primary stronghold.
Myxlixinal learned that the company was unaware that what laid beneath Wyvern's Roost was his ship, as they instead believed it was an ancient treasure called The Lost Hoard. Myxlixinal did not clarify their misunderstanding but instead turned it to his benefit, encouraging them to pursue this treasure.
When the company did enter the mind flayer ship after dispelling Myxlixinal's barrier, he and his Kuo-Toa servants snuck in as well. During this time Myxlixinal managed to hide away in a secret safe room that the Overmind could not access. Then when the company were busy defending themselves from the Overmind, Myxlixinal stole back the brain they stole and he plugged it into the ships central psionic system, rebooting the ship and giving him full access.
Myxlixinal then had his Kuo-Toa servants turn on the company members as he began to fly the ship into the sky, preparing to use its planar engine to take the ship to realms beyond. During the ensuing battle, the company members managed to slay Myxlixinal before taking back control of the ship and destroying it for good.

Myxlixinal possessed potent psionic abilities and in his time in Amusa had mastered arcane magic.
