Greenfire is a potent and destructive arcane substance created irradiating Wovenstone with powerful arcane magic. When ignited, this substance transmutes any living non-fey life forms into harmless plants. On its own it is not very dangerous, but when it is weaponized, it can have world-shaking effects.
Description[edit | edit source]
As its name suggests, this substance when burning resembles green fire. Its fuel source is irradiated wovenstone, meaning that unlike normal fire, it won't spread across forests and homes. The substance was designed to only affect non-fey creatures, so any fey or creatures of fey descent such as elves, satyrs, fairies, etc. are unaffected. Those who are not of fey blood such as humans, dwarves, halflings, and even dragons violently have their flesh and muscles transfigured into vines and plants. Strangely, Greenfire does not affect a creatures bones, leaving its victims as arboreal skeletons held up by the plants that used to be their skin.
The creation of iratiated wovenstone is extremly difficult, requireing advanced wovenstone refineries and high quanities of arcane magical energy and pressure.
It was first created by the Wold Order during Realm War II, and was used to craft the Greenfire Bomb, a device that when detonated could spread the effects of Greenfire across a large area. In 898 PR at the end of the second Realm War, they deployed a number of these bombs across Western Osugbo to halt the spread of the World Breaker Plague.
After the Second Realm War, governments across Quelmar restricted access to Wovenstone in hopes of preventing the creation of future Greenfire bombs.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Greenfire transfigures any creatures that do not either have the fey or plant creature types, or the Fey Ancestry trait, into nonmagical plants. When a creature comes into contact with Greenfire, they must succeed on a DC 23 Constitution saving throw or be transformed. A creature can only be revived from this transformation by means of a Wish spell.
