The Anchoring of the Breeze is a Ta-Shedet ritual, used by the ancient elves during periods of disastrous weather. When a pocket of the desert was faced with sustained storms, famine, drought, or other phenomena, elvish practitioners would gather together at night. They would chant this ritual spell with a willing participant in the center of the summoning circle, who would become the vessel for an entity from one of the planes. The exact nature of these entities is unknown, but they were categorized and documented by the Ta-Shedet as forces of benevolence (indicating, of course, that trial and error produced several notable names to avoid). The names are lost to the sands, but some scholars believe that the names were related to the seasons.
The end result of the Anchoring was a short-term contract where the vessel shares their body with the elemental entity for as long as the community has need of their services. The "force" behind this ritual would naturally extend a Region of Calm from their being, which negates the effects of adverse weather. The community would be safe to grow food and harvest without fear of starvation, and the vessel need only reside within a single dwelling, that the borders of the magic remain stable. When the term expired, the elemental force would safely exit the vessel, returning to whence they were summoned.
