Rook Gravesfield is an undead necromancer in The Court of Bloom and Blade D&D campaign.
Physical Appearance
Rook Gravesfield looks like a young elf with a thin, androgenous, lithe build and deathly pale skin. They have soft features with pointed elf ears and messy short black hair. Their body is covered in many surgical scares from when Rook has had to repair and modify his undead body. He wears nothing but a thin, black, tattered robe.
History
The first thing Rook remembers is waking up in an open grave in an abandoned gravesite. Pulling themselves up from the earth, the first thing they saw was a crow, a rook, a small black bird perching on a gravestone to worn to read. And so, not remembering anything about themselves, that is the name they took, Rook. And for their surname, they used the name of their home, Gravesfield. Rook began to travel the land attempting to understand what they were. As they traveled they found themselves shunned and even hunted for their undead nature. Rook's appearance didn't help his case anyway, as his flesh was rotting of the bone while maggots squirmed in what remained of his organs. It was this and particular other features of their corpse that made Rook feel uncomfortable in their own body, and so they worked to fix that. Traveling from graveyard to graveyard, Rook took the best parts of any corpse they could find and sowed them into himself. He would hack off undesirable parts of his body and replace them with parts that felt like they were what he was meant to have in the first place.
Rook continued to travel and hoped to learn more about his own undeath, and the death of others. He raised skeletons, interviewed zombies, parlayed with vampires, danced with mummies, studied under liches, drank with Death Knights, and made out with wraiths. He even claims to have seen a dormant Atropal sleeping under a cursed castle. Rook one day dreams that there will be a place where his kind can live in peace and not be pursued and hunted for what they are.
But now his travels bring him to new lands. Rumor has it there is a fey realm where undead thrive, and now Rook wants to have a look for himself.
