Among those who ascribe to the theory, the Painter is a fickle creature who takes long naps and is never satisfied with the color they've chosen when they awake. The location of their slumbering grounds is unknown, but there are a few historians, believers, theologians, and nomads who seek out the Painter as a life-long pilgrimage.

The Painter has never been seen. They are often depicted as a rush of color or wind, or as a monolithic block of color matching Quelmar's sky at the time.

If real, the Painter is responsible for the changing of the color of Quelmar's sky. Over the course of Quelmar's history, the sky has been red, blue, and (citiation needed).
