Session 1

From across the realms, the members of the party are whisked away from their respective planes and taken to the radiant heights of Mt. Celestia by the Archangel Gabriel. Gabriel informs the party that The River Styx had dried up and that The Abyss along with all demons had disappeared along with it. Though rumor had it that there was one demon left and that it had been last seen on the first layer of The Ten Hells, Duumal. In return for bestowing each member of the party a miracle for completing their mission, Gabriel asks the party to hunt down this demon and figure out what it knows.

During their time on Mt. Celestia, the party begins to get acquainted with one another. They also learn that the caretaker of the River Styx, the boatman Charon, had also gone missing, and that a dragon known as Barroth had been released into Hell. The party are brought to a portal gateway by Gabriel's assistants, Melody and Aariel, the sword of the solar, and are sent on their way.

Session 2

Leaving Mt. Celestia, the party arrives in The Cerulean City, a flying city in The Feywild that serves as a planar port city with portals leading to many realms. After arriving, the party head to the Janus Court to gain passage into Duumal and then explore the city. They find evidence of many demons in the city having disappeared, as well as any gates to the Abyss having been destroyed around the same time the River Styx dried up. The party reconvenes at a tavern known as The Scorned Horn, owned by a sad and grey unicorn named Arion. Here they hire two guides to lead them through the first layer of the Hells: a former infernal orator and ambasador to Glasya named Virgil, and a cooky prophet priestess named Koh Tam.

From their the party departs the Cerulean City and enter through a portal into Duumal. After some traveling, the party arrive at the small town of Brimstone Gulch. They find many infernal soldiers celebrating Hell's victory in The Blood War as well as numerous faction representatives hoping to sway these soldiers to their sides. These factions includes devils of Bel's militia, The Fingers of Barroth, and The Sinner's League. The party end up in a saloon called The Devil's Duster and end up in a gambling game with some Abishai on the Fingers of Barroth, draconic devils loyal to the dragon Barroth. Joining their game is the captain of the Red Wake, Captain Grinlocke Vorn. But soon the interactions sour as the betting turns to soul coins and some members of the party try to stop things from escalating further. Enraged and hoping to make a show of force to the soldiers, the Abishai attack.
