At least twice during Quelmar's history, dragons have attacked the continent of Isonhound with the ultimate aims of turning the forested land to ash.

The First Razing of Isonhound

Mesanth razes the forests of Isonhound. At least 3 causalities reported.

The combined forces of two dragons (Ith and Mesanth) caused continent-wide terror in Isonhound between the years 700 and 702 PR. During these two years, the pillages, burned, and slaughtered all they came across.

Aftermath

By 702 PR, Ith had been stopped by the Keepers of the Secret Hoard and Mesanth has disappeared, apparently on a journey to Kiston. Their raids caused the loss of nearly 2 million lives, most major populaces had been burned to the ground, the forests had been desolated, and by the end of the year, recovery seemed unlikely.

Asar Ogalas

In the aftermath of the razing, it became customary to celebrate an annual day of remembrance, known to many by its elvish name "Asar Ogalas", which means "Festival of Re-Growth". Asar Ogalas was started first by the elves of Isonhound who lost territory in the area near what would become Synàra, and the Synaran Asar Ogalas was considered on the biggest and most celebratory of all.

The Second Razing of Isonhound

Spurred on by the Wold Order's use of Greenfire during the Second Realm War, the dragon goddess Tiamat made it her personal mission to destroy Isonhound. She would begind the Second Razing of Isonhound in 899 PR by summoning her divine aspect into the city of Synàra, a stronghold for the Wold Order. At the same time, four adult dragons would attack the city of Sneerwell which had the largest refineries of Wovenstone in the world, a material used to create airship and Greenfire. Ironically, the attack would begin while Isonhound was celebrating Asar Ogalas.

While the Second Razing of Isonhound would last only half as long as the first, it would be many times more devastating as Tiamat's dragons turned the forests of the continent to ash, killing over 6 million people. The razing would only conclude when Tiamat's attention was diverted elsewhere as the Second Holy War began.
