King for a Day is a short-lived campaign run by GM John which used the Dungeon World game system and was adapted from the King for a Day low-fantasy setting authored by Jim Pinto. Its sessions were streamed on Twitch starting on December 3, 2021.
About[edit | edit source]
King for a Day followed a group of four adventurers in a mercenary company formed in the city of Jarlsboerg, the seat of one of the larger earldoms in the kingdom of Glynefjorn. The last six months had seen Jarlsboerg besieged by the armies of Keynsmoor, a rival earldom within the same kingdom. One of the councillors of Jarlsboerg, a man named Enrich, hired the adventurers to deliver a message from the baron of Jarlsboerg to an ally named Lothian who lived in a remote valley known as Brycshire.

The Story So Far[edit | edit source]
The four adventurers travelled to Brycshire to deliver a message from the baron of Jarlsboerg, but were turned away by the guards at the castle wall. They decided to regroup at a local inn, where they learned that someone in an adjacent village may hold the right connections to help them obtain clearance with the guards. They travelled to the village and asked around, only to learn that the person they sought wouldn't be back in town for a few days. The adventurers decided to bide their time and took up a shift in the rotation at the village's derelict watchtower. One of the nights they were on watch, monsters began attacking the watchtower and the adventurers fought them off. While assessing the damage from the battle, they uncovered a hidden set of stairs which led underground beneath the watchtower. The adventurers opted to investigate and descended the staircase. Their fates beyond this point were uncertain, except that Aranwe was ambushed by the same reality-bending fey magic that had initially landed him in Jarlsboerg…pulling him through a fey portal and dispensing him back in Prehistory at the door to The Temple of Reality.
