Return to the Within the Wicked Wilds/The Story So Far page

The Saga of Kavanmort was a saga that stretched over all three books of Within the Wicked Wilds. It deals with the Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company dealing with the legacy and eventual return to the two-headed dragon, Kavanmort and his minions.

Summery

Kavanmort was a monstrous two-headed dragon who served as a living weapon for the dragon goddess Tiamat during the Holy War. Kavanmort was sent by Tiamat to conquer and destroy the continent of Amusa, alongside the dragons Old Alkinimic, Xevriss, and Xupaynth. During this time Kavanmort would establish many temples to himself, with many dragon worshiping cultists viewing him as a dragon demi-god. Kavanmort would later return to Amusa at the start of The War of Many Names, hoping to finish his continental conquest.

Upon his return to Amusa, he would come into conflict with a team of adventurers led by the explorer hero Aloysius Tempest. In a climatic battle the heroes managed to tear one of Kavanmort's two hearts from his body and forced the dragon to flee to Eastern Amusa. In the eastern wilds though, Kavanmort would discover a crashed [[|The Lost Hoard|Mind Flayer Ship]] beneath Wyvern's Roost and planned to use the alien technology and the preserved army of Mind Flayers within the ship to defeat the heroes and destroy Amusa. His plan was thwarted when Aloysius Tempest sacrificed himself by merging with the ships intelligence, The Overmind and sealing both himself and Kavanmort in the ship.

Over the next few decades, more of Kavanmort's lost temples and ruins would be discovered and his lietenatnts would begin to reemerge as well. In 893 PR, his most loyal servant, a dragonborn vampire named Galidant would be freed as well. Kavanmort would be rrediscovered when the Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company uncovered the lost mind flayer ship and would awaken once more when the ship was activated by the rogue Mind Flayer [Myxlixinal]]. Before Kavanmort could return to Amusa, the company managed to overload the ship's planar engine and destroy Kavanmort by sending him through an unstable planar rift.

Involved Player Characters

Most players during the campaign would come to encounter the legacy of Kavanmort, be it the ruins of Kavanmort's temples, Kavanmort's servants, or even Kavanmort themselves in the finale megagame session.
