The Pumpkin King is the archfey ruler of The Court of Hallow's Eve, a fey court dedicated to maintaining and perpetuating the holiday of Hallow's Eve.
Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]
The Pumpkin King stands like a moving harvest effigy, having a large skeletal frame of twisted vines, gnarled branches, and creeping ivy. His head is a grinning, carved pumpkin with flickering amber light glowing within, with his jagged mouth curling into a mocking smile. His cloak like the rest of his body is made of living foliage that constantly sheds autumn leaves as he walks. The air around him smells faintly of spiced cider and lit candles.
Personality[edit | edit source]
The Pumpkin King is a theatrical sovereign of shadows and harvest magic, embodying the eerie beauty of autumn’s twilight. He thrives on suspense, mischief, and the art of the scare. He delights in fear as much as fun, though he insists the two are inseparable. He is courteous, well-spoken, and playful in a sinister way, never raising his voice yet always making mortals feel as if they are trespassing in a place not meant for them. While some may feel at ease to his more outward facing jovial and playful nature, this is only one facet to the Pumpkin King. He did not earn the title of Lord of Fear by tricks and scares along, for he is a master of shadows and all things that go bump in the night and send shivers down your spine. If he so desired he could show you things so terrifying and terrible that even the other archfey try not to cross him out of fear the Pumpkin King will turn his ire towards them.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
The Pumpkin King commands some of the strongest illusion and shadow magics of any fey in the realms. With a mere gesture, he can summon brambles, vines, and roots to entangle or drag foes beneath the earth, while his illusions twist reality into visions of a victim’s deepest fears, inflicting unimaginable torments upon them. When truly roused, he can unleash the magic of his lantern head, obliterating those before him in a blast of orange fire.
