The Painter is the representation of collective belief within Quelmar as to why the sky changes colors over the ages. Among those who ascribe to the theory, the Painter is a fickle creature who takes long naps and is never satisfied with the color they've chosen when they awake. The location of their slumbering grounds is unknown, but there are a few historians, believers, theologians, and nomads who seek out the Painter as a life-long pilgrimage.

The Painter has never been seen. They are often depicted as a rush of color or wind, or as a monolithic block of color matching Quelmar's sky at the time.

If real, the Painter is responsible for the changing of the color of Quelmar's sky. Over the course of Quelmar's history, the sky has been red, blue, and (citiation needed).
Worshippers[edit | edit source]
The Painter is not so much worshipped as appreciated by those who entertain the notion of the Painter's very existence. Artists and craftsmen may occasionally use the Painter as inspiration for particularly colorful pieces.

The Painter, if real, has the ability to change the color of Quelmar's sky to whatever they fancy. This would indicate the Painter has the powers of at least a demigod or minor god, should they choose to use them.
