  • Heading into the cavern, the party finds first Spring Spiders, medium creatures that look like glass that are filled with fresh water and offer Ki'lana a bead of their dew
  • Heading further in, they find Deer Quartz, but they are skittish and move away deeper into the cave.
  • Going to the center of the cave, they find the spring pool in this cavern, discovering the most fresh and delicious water they've ever tasted.
  • They are quickly surprised though by bright flashes that belong to the Jade Vine dragons, who are tiny
  • They chase the dragons around the cavern, getting blinded and the quick little dragons dashing away! Eventually though they bop them enough to release the knight and lady in waiting back to themselves!
  • While chasing the creatures about, Olneya discovers a merrow caught in a shallow pool, using mold earth to move a cavern collapse so the merrow can get back to their deep spring cavern.
  • After they finish releasing the court members, they head for a narrow area that smells like rot and death. Inside, they find Emilia, catatonic and covered in external veins of mycelium. Protecting it's prey, there is a Morille (a dinosaur made of fungus)

Getting close the circle alerted the nearby Amaranth dragon, who called out for help from an ally, a pied-blue creature. When beaten, this floral dragon was revealed to be Lady-In-Waiting Bo
  • The adventurers used all their resources to beat the Pied-blue as well, and destroyed the 3/4 formed mushroom circle when someone heard a cry for help. Heading into the glade at the top of a cliff, they found another Pied-Blue, two decayed boars, as well as what they were guarding, an active mushroom ring, as well as two fairies, Acostisa (covered in mycelium and catatonic), as well as Hedy, the one calling for help. The adventurers were able to save them both and destroy the mushroom ring.
  • When told about the mushroom rings, Queen Cherise told the adventurers that she knows now who is attacking them. The Court of Decay Once ruled by her sister, it was overtaken by a hag a thousand years ago and it seems they are now prepared to take over this court as well. The Queen’s decree: Every mushroom circle must be destroyed, no one crosses to the other side, and any corruptive mycelium burned away.

Dragon Mark: Friends cantrip

Important Things that Happened:

  • Casella, in charge of the Royal Orchard, asked you to assist her with her royal duties as her team had been too afraid to venture up into the skybridges, due to a bird like floral dragon singing and causing them to fall, some even to their death. Your adventurers helped pick rare and interesting fruits, and some met interesting creatures who live in the orchard
  • The adventurers, though bountiful in harvest, did find themselves victims to the Heliconia’s song and soon enough, several followed the song until they too fell from the sky bridges. Once they beat these dragons, though the trial tumultuous, they revealed the two to be the falconer Helika and the royal knight Rambutan
  • Those who fell from the sky bridges found they were not alone on the forest floor, as two mushroom rings brought forth needle covered Aspratums and a mycelium mage. Their goal was clear: find new victims to add to the hag’s ranks and unfortunately, they were able to drag away Olneya, and so the price the adventurers have paid grows higher.

  • The last strange Dandelion Dragon was weird, sickly, and seemed to be sprouting mushrooms.
  • When struck by one of the normal Dandelions, the adventurers found themselves with a rash that left them very itchy
  • Adventurers worked to keep the Vespon Queen calm while also trying to keep the Dandelions from killing the Vespons between Interdimensional Jaunts
  • The Dandelion Dragons when defeated, released the final Royal Knight and Lady-in-Waiting, Persimmon and Fergie
  • Inspecting how the Dandelion Dragons got in revealed spore covered hand prints, forcing the window open from the outside.
  • As April and the Adventurers ponder who could have let them in, an alarm sounded out in the courtyard!
  • Vera and then Infirmary were under attack! A large Pleurote and its rider, Plumette of the Court of Decay, incapacitated Vera and attempted to make away with those in the catatonic state of mycelium corruption.
  • Three royal knights made sure to help Vera to safety and assist the Adventurers as they tried to keep the Decay’s faithful from taking new offerings to the Wastes through a large mushroom circle.
  • The adventurers slayed Plumette moments before she dove away but only after she sacrificed what was left of Kit to remake her way home through the portal. The Pleurote got away.

Floral Dragon: Water Lily- Rhyza, the Keeper of the Seal

Dragon Mark: Shape Water cantrip

Important Things that Happened:

  • During this quest, our dear adventurers were sent out by the Queen and a local naiad, requesting aid because a large aquatic floral dragon was eating up many eggs of merrow and naiad alike in the Lilac Lake. The heroes headed down to the lake and worked with the local land creatures to make rafts suitable for getting above the Water Lily Dragon and keeping out of the water itself, so they did not succumb to a Nixie. The Nixie was summoned by the cries and prayers of the local merrow, who called on their goddess deep down.
  • The players fought against waves, dragons, lilypads and fey and in the end, they spared the Nixie, mostly ignoring her call and avoided getting in the water to fight the large Water Lily until they too popped its petals revealing inside Rhyza, the Keeper of the Seal! Both groups also showed their worth to the local pond skippers
  • The water Genasi, Machi, in an act of good faith, sank down below with the Nixie to meet the one who sent her, the apparent goddess of the depths. Hours down into the endless lake, where light to longer touched the water from above and pressure made her head feel faint, she hears a voice and can just almost see the outline of dark claws reaching to her from below.

Session 8: Diving In, Dragon First[edit | edit source]

Important NPCs: Zarya, Harbinger of Tamzu; Odessa, Fortuna

Floral Dragon: Larkspur- Buttercup, the Durward

Important Things that Happened:

  • The palace is under attack as very quickly, rings of both mushrooms and roses in chromatic circles of red, black, blue, green, and white appear and begin to empty out enemy after enemies into the courtyard of the glass castle. Familiar mushroom enemies all appear, but in the back lines, new foes stand tall. The newly blighted form of Olneya comes with a small army of awakened mushrooms, prepared to reclaim his old home. The other new figure is a tall woman with pale hair and not a spot of mycelium on her, instead her skin is marked with tattoos of thorns and roses. She claims to be Zarya, Harbinger of Tamzu, and states that when the hag has come and rot away the Oasis, Tamzu will come and cleanse and bring rebirth after. Zarya then opens a suitcase she carries, pulling out a whole Larkspur dragon, mounting it and diving into the pool that connects the Oasis to the realm of Quelmar. The Queen, Archfey Cherise, makes her instructions clear: destroy these new mushroom circles and then follow that warlock!
  • After clearing out the circles and a majority of the enemies, the adventurers are able to dive through the oasis pool, some for the first time, and attempt to follow Zarya. Alas, Zarya is too far, seen climbing over the cliff edge and onto the top of the plateau and what’s worse, cries of help of Pterran citizens quite unfamiliar with the site of a Larkspur dragon can be heard inside a nearby cafe. Making their way inside, our heroes find Odessa and Fortuna attempting to save their shop from the attacking Larkspur, but quite unprepared for the amount of poison each hit Odessa makes causes to her. The adventurers slay the Larkspur while keeping the locals of Acqua Junction safe and from beneath its petals, they reveal Buttercup, the Durward!
  • With victory in the Oasis secured and Olneya taken captive, Queen Cherise comes to the desert in disguise, telling the adventurers that her belief for the best course of action is for them to stay in Pteris, here in Acqua Junction, and try to find Zarya and any floral dragons she releases, afraid that if those of the mortal realm find the dragons, they’ll not only kill the beast, but in confusion, the person inside. For the few months, our heroes are desert bound. Cashmere, Casella and Saffron move to their shop locations in Acqua Junction and Flourish brings over her Potions Cart.

The adventurers choose Merigold for their first venture out into the desert and with her help, head directly towards the northwestern crags. Along the way, they face quicksand from the movement of a large worm. After camping over night and descending from the plateau, they move across the sand and on their way, meet another local traveler, a scavenger called Sasha, her familiar Sandy and her pet Opalta. They also are introduced to her Mount, a jackrabbit called Jack Wagon. She tells them she found both petals and large scales ahead in the crags and to be careful.

  • A cactus leshy called Finnegan, the herald for the Sovereign comes to Acqua Junction to declare that the Sovereign of the Sands Nolana is hold games at their Colosseum to see if anyone can beat the Horizonback Gang and win the prize set from their latest hunt: a large beast covered in blue flowers. Believing this to the next floral dragon, our adventurers set out on a three journey across the sands to find this colosseum!
  • When arriving at their destination, they see a large arena, but stationed next to it is a gargantuan tortoise that seems to be housing several creatures with a bad attitude. This the Horizonback, home to Aster, Crocus, Capealoe, Daison, Hibiscus, and Lunabelle; a gang of fairies that were banished from the Oasis.
  • During the game, all the team as to do is down the on-field competition. Ziri, Kosuna, and Isidora face down Crocus, Aster and Hibiscus. It’s a bloody battle with many blows exchanged. The fairies have to send down two of their off-fielders to keep from losing too quickly and that brings down Seraph and Ki’Lana into danger. Eventually the game is down to just Ki’Lana against Aster, Hibbi, and Lunabelle when the Hydrangea dragon, which had been in chains on display during the fight BREAKS FREE! The Sovereign then declares it is a free for all! All competitors are allowed back on the field, though anyone who had been knocked out before is at half health. It doesn’t take long for the full team of our Court of Blossoms representatives to put down the fairies and free the court member inside the floral dragon: Phylla the royal Page Seraph then does a kind and noble thing and does not leave one of the fairies on death’s door, healing her and making peace between the two factions.

As the adventurers scope out their target, they notice three large beasts stalking prey, small **vulpulents**, fennec foxes evolved to embrace the skin and water retention of succulents. The unassuming vulpulents are  playing as the sun fades and danger sets in. a Catctus, Cactus Gorger and a Lupion are watching them hungrily.

The adventurers fought valiantly and are able to save all the vulpulents, but down in their den, they find a surprise! A Magnolia dragon has been keeping these small creatures safe from the beasts above. Slaying the dragon Paeoniae the coffer, a pixie of the low court.

Important NPCs: Merigold, Zarya

Floral Dragon: None

Dragon Mark: None

Important Things that Happened:

The group is invited to the Great Maze, an antique place of worship for Pterrans of the Southwest, to face Zarya head on.

Inside the Great Maze, they first believe to find the suitcase containing the rest of the court members, but it is merely an illusion. Zarya covers the maze in bushes of chromatic roses and has awakened the old statues inside, each one of a representation of the five chromatic rose types and centered herself on the rose statue at the center. As the adventurers travel into the maze to find her, they begin to encounter these awakened creatures, Rose Drake Behemoths.

Slaying the Rose Drakes, they find that these dragons do not fall away and become court members, but truly die at their hand. They also notice that as they are slayed, when they turn their backs, the heads of the creatures are magically severed and pulled away somewhere.

After slaying all of the drakes, they make their way to the center to find Zarya, covered in her own blood, ready to finish what she and the adventurers have begun: the restoration of roses, the great summoning of her goddess.

Zarya has summoned the head of all five drakes on colored pedestals with their name and positions and piercing herself with a ritual dagger, one of Tamzu's thorns, she completes the ritual. She falls, dead, and the court of blossoms' heroes can only watch as the large statue turns over to reveal a statue of the one to come: The Aspect of Tamzu, a rose hydra, Dread Empress of Floral Dragons.

They are able to recover the suitcase at last, a pocket dimension, but when they open it, they find it empty. The last of the court member's floral dragons had already been released long ago.

Returning to the Rescue[edit | edit source]

Characters: Larkspur, Saida, Senku Ilver (Tina), Ki'Lana, Kosuna, Seraph

Important NPCs: Sakura, queen of Floral Dragons, Sollace (Conclave Leader), Conclave of the Floral Queen

Floral Dragon: None

Dragon Mark: None

Important Things that Happened:

Our adventurers were advised by Queen Cherise that they need to head to the Far Fields where Sakura nests as her behest. The land of the Oasis has changed, despite Archfey Cherise’s best efforts and the knights too. Mycelia activity rises, though the incoming circles are quickly burnt away. Heading to the far fields, the band finds themselves face to face with a field of spore traps that they use Saida and Ki’Lana’s skills to methodically march around without getting caught.

They then explored a field of wild magic flowers, gathering a few new varieties. When leaving the flower field, they were approached by a trio of peony dragons who have been killed and corrupted, puppeted by the hag’s mycelium and fungus inside. Despite struggling with the spore breaths and fungal attacks, the party survives and defeated those corrupted dragons, though leaving a bit worse for wear. They take a break before heading forward.

The last hour of their travel is in a storm of petals and sparkles and wild magic, each of them that cannot escape the powerful draw succumbing to a new effect, such as an addition to chewing leather, being unable to eat while at full health, or having twigs ignite while chewing on them. Finally, they arrive at the Far Fields Temple. The Conclave of the Floral Queen lives there and so will our adventurers for the next few weeks!

The head of the conclave, Sollace, an Iris Floral Dragonborn, leads our adventurers to Sakura who first admits that she is to blame for keeping Tamzu a secret from everyone. That she had locked Tamzu’s essence away in the Wastes after defeating her and hoped it would stay that way. It seems though that the Hag, Granny Capella, has reawakened her mortal form and now Zarya, has revived the aspect and now Tamzu will soon be at her full power. In order to succeed against Granny Capella and Tamzu, you will need all the court members and so the five large lairing dragons must be defeated and released.

Sakura gives over Topaz the research goat to Larkspur and Sollace takes Larkspur and Saida to Delphi’s workshop here at the temple where she was studying poisonous flowers and the recent crop of roses that had started to appear. Saida is able to find enough research that shows that the roses started emerging at the Great Cathedral and even finds a map that will lead the party there.

Larkspur finds her mother’s Druid Bag.

A field of spores, a field of wild flowers where they gather different varieties, a trap set by a group of fungal troops sent by the hag. The trap consisted of a door set up so it looked like you would just open it. Ki’Lana approached and peeked around the side and found General Fungustus, a poison floater, and a Hairy Micena creature. Ki’Lana immediately fireballed this group and then gained help from the others to fight against the fungal crew. They were able to destroy all of them without anyone receiving too much corruption to continue.

Before getting to the floral dragon’s lair, they noticed a mushroom circle unlike any they’d seen before. It had small white mushrooms with a faint blue-ish glow. Looking up, one of the party noticed a Firbolg hiding in the tree above them who promptly gave a shush motion, obviously trying to hide. When promised they would be safe, the Firbolg climbed down from the tree, introducing herself as Hollyblossom and explaining that she is from the Wastelands. Her and a small party of rebels had come over to retrieve their leader who had been taken when she attempted to rescue Cherise’s court in Granny Capella’s castle.

The party noticed as they looked on at the Firbolg—that she was undead. Hollyblossom explained that all of those who live in the Wasteland are undead and have been waiting there since Cherise closed them off when the Hag took over. No new undead had been created and only one person had ever been born in the Wasteland, their leader, Eukari.

Knowing now to look out for the group of undead rebels, the party headed forward until they came to the lair of the Greater Aconite Dragon, a terrible toxic beast with three heads and several smaller dragons like Clematis and Larkspur assisting it. They found the rebels were in fact there! Auror, an elf ranger; Gwenisse, a fairy artificer; Thale, a dragonborn fighter; Faele, an elf druid; and Orfin, an earth genasi barbarian.

When the fight with the toxic dragons ended, the party found that the three heads represented the three people that Tamzu had turned into this floral dragon: Wolfsbane, the Master of the Hunt and his wife, Delphi, an expert on Floral Dragons, as well as Eukari!

Eukari suffers from exhaustion after performing this kind of healing but says she wants to stay in the Oasis with her rebels until the court is complete and then approach Cherise and request that Cherise’s aid in taking out Granny Capella and Tamzu.

On their way to find the Succulent dragon and its lair, the party finds a dog that’s covered in lilies that leads them to a poor leshy that is currently being hunted by a tiger lily and two chameleopards! The adventurers are able to scare off or slay the wild floral cats and in return the leshy offers the party some dryad bark.

As the party marches on, they find some rose soldiers and a fungal sorcerer working together, though they are bickering loudly and the party gets the jump on them! A rose brawler called Thelma, a knight called Rhoswen and the sorcerer, Sebulach, who summons fungal hyenas, are handily beaten by the party, but the bubbly Rhoswhen promises that even if they kill her, she’ll be back.

Finally at the Succulent dragon’s lair, they have to deal with terrible heat and a wall of cactus under the Succulent’s control. Stuck inside the wall is the Sovereign of the sands, adventuring at the suggestion of their friend, Ki’Lana.

The party stays in the kitchen, proving they can handle the heat as they defeat the dragon, releasing the court member inside, Apocynae, Master of the Horse.

After showing her a little firepower, Yam escapes and goes back to Tamzu to report what she has learned. The party continues their way towards Macintosh.

At the edge of the village, the party finds the gargantuan Apple Tree, covered in terrible florivore, a terrifying small parasite that creeps under the skin of creatures, especially Floral Dragons, and feeds on them. The adventurers acted quickly, casting sanctuary on Tosha, the apple tree dragon, so that the florivore would have more difficulty biting into her. As they grew frustrated, they slowly began to fall away, one by one until they were within attacking range of the adventurers and some on the adventurers. Eventually they are able to rid her of all her pests and she blessed with each with an apple and her boon: to cast sunlight and heal others.

Senku, back from his banishment works to keep Dorothy from drowning but is banished again by a charmed Verina and so Ki’Lana must instead hold the little girl up, who has been put to sleep by Verina as well.  The party is able to defeat the school of sirens and the green hag but not without the loss of time and resources. They return to shore to wait another day before trying to attempt their trip again to take down the two opposing dragons.
